At a Press Conference hosted by Prime Minister Keith Rowley this afternoon (Monday 3rd May 2021), Epidemiologist, Dr. Avery Hinds, from the Ministry of Health said that Trinidad and Tobago is on track to see over 10,000 active COVID-19 cases by 22nd May 2021.
As of yesterday, T&T currently has 2,506 active cases.
Dr. Hinds also noted that younger people are now dying from the disease and at this rate, if the trend does not change, the capacity of the parallel healthcare system will be maxed out soon.
Meanwhile, Minister of Health, Terrence Deyalsingh, said there is no plan to house COVID-19 patients in the traditional Hospital system. He also warned of possible burnout of healthcare workers, stating, "Our medical personnel are under tremendous pressure."
