UPDATE (26/11/19 - 5pm): The Met Office has extended its Adverse Weather Alert until Wednesday.
UPDATE (26/11/19 - 7:30am): Moderate to heavy showers are continuing across many areas of Trinidad and Tobago, and these conditions are expected to intensify as the day progresses.
UPDATE (26/11/19 - 5:45am): The axis of Tropical Wave 68 is now moving across Trinidad and Tobago. Moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain and Thunderstorms are nearing and moving across both islands (via @TTWeatherCenter).
Tropical Wave 68 is forecast to traverse our region on Tuesday 26th November 2019, bringing gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall. In light of this, the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service has issued an Adverse Weather Alert (Yellow Level) from 9am until 4pm on Tuesday.
According to the Met Office, heavy showers and Thunderstorms are expected in isolated areas of Trinidad and to a lesser extent over Tobago on Tuesday, with accumulated rainfall approximating 20 - 25 mm. Winds are likely to gust in excess of 60 Km/h at times. These conditions can lead to localised flooding in some areas. Note that inclement weather may continue into Wednesday 27th November 2019.
Based on the latest model guidance and analysis, much of the severe weather is forecast to begin after Midnight tonight (Monday 25th November 2019) and into mid-afternoon on Tuesday. Another flare-up of showers and Thunderstorms can be expected early Wednesday morning, subsiding by afternoon.
