Investigations are ongoing into an incident early this morning (Sunday 4th December 2022), in which three (3) Prison Officers were reportedly ambushed and beaten while leaving a bar in Tacarigua.
According to reports, around 3:30 AM, two (2) Officers were walking out of Hutt Shutts Bar, located at Upper Crown Street in Tacarigua, on their way to meet another Prison Officer, who came to pick them up with his vehicle. While walking towards the vehicle, the two (2) Officers were ambushed by a group of approximately eight (8) men, who began attacking them. The pair of Officers tried entering the vehicle to escape the attack, but the men continued beating and hurling objects at them, damaging the vehicle in the process. The victims eventually emerged from the vehicle and fought off their attackers, who subsequently fled the scene along Crown Street. The Prison Officers then notified their Seniors and contacted the Police. Officers from the Arouca Police Station responded to the scene. The Prison Officers were said to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Investigations are continuing into the incident. [Source: Loop] We are a small operation.
