President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Paula-May Weekes, will attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II on Monday (19th September 2022). The 96-year-old Queen was Britain's longest reigning monarch. She died on 8th September 2022 after reigning for seventy (70) years. Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne, said that expressions of condolence have been extended by the President of Trinidad and Tobago to His Majesty King Charles III. The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Keith Rowley, has done the same to the newly installed British Prime Minister, Elizabeth Truss. The British will observe a holiday on the day of the funeral to mark the death of the Queen. Meanwhile, on that day the Trinidad and Tobago National Flag will be flown at half-mast, as previously announced by Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds. Senator the Honourable Christine Kangaloo will act as President until President Weekes returns to T&T on Tuesday 20th September 2022. We are a small operation.
