The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has extended its initial Adverse Weather Alert (Yellow Level) for a second time — this time by a further sixteen (16) hours. The Alert was scheduled to expire at 6pm this evening (Monday 13th December 2021) but will now remain in effect until 10am on Tuesday (14th December 2021). The Alert now applies to Northern Trinidad and Tobago.
According to the Met Office, settled conditions are now dominant over Southern parts of Trinidad as impactful weather has decreased significantly. However, rainy periods can continue this evening in various locations. Impactful weather can still affect Northern Trinidad and Tobago and there is the medium to high (60% - 70%) chance of heavy downpours and Thunderstorms, along with persistent rainy periods. Saturated soils will increase the likelihood of localized ponding and street flooding as well as landslides/landslips in areas so prone. Gusts in excess of 55 Km/h can be expected near heavy downpours and can displace loose outdoor objects and unsecured roofs. Citizens are advised to secure loose items outdoors. Do not wade or drive through flood waters. Monitor weather conditions and updates from official sources. This is a developing story - refresh this page for updates. We are a small operation.
