Four (4) persons, including two (2) women, are currently hospitalized following a drive-by shooting in New Grant, Princes Town, on Friday night (15th September 2023). According to reports, the victims, one of whom is a Venezuelan national, were liming around 9:45 PM at Church Road Junction, Sixth Company Circular Road, near Sheldon’s Shop, when a white Nissan AD wagon pulled up. The occupants opened fire on the group, hitting two (2) men, a 42-year-old and a 40-year-old, of San Fernando and New Grant respectively, a 28-year-old Venezuelan woman and a 27-year-old woman of New Grant. They were all treated at the Princes Town District Health Facility. The 40-year-old victim, however, was sent to the San Fernando General Hospital for further treatment. Police Officers later discovered the wagon, with no registration plates, abandoned in a bushy area off Downing Trace, Petite Cafe. The wagon was found to have been reported stolen from the Tunapuna area on 25th August 2023.
Crime scene investigators retrieved three (3) spent 5.56 shells inside the wagon. Investigations are continuing by Officers of the Princes Town Police Station.
