According to a Media Release from the Ministry of Health, 200,000 doses of the WHO-approved Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine landed at the Piarco International Airport at 1:37pm this afternoon, Monday 14th June 2021.
The Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh, Minister of Health, Senator the Honourable Dr. Amery Browne, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, as well as His Excellency Fang Qiu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Trinidad and Tobago were on hand to witness the arrival of the vaccines, which were procured by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago.
Prime Minister Keith Rowley announced at a Press Conference on Saturday (12th June 2021) that the Government was expecting the arrival of these vaccines today. However, no mention was made then of the impending arrival of Pfizer vaccines from the United States, which controversially arrived in the country later that same day.
