UPDATE (3:30pm): Because of additional rainfall, the Southbound lanes of the Uriah Butler Highway is now ONLY open to Trucks. All other traffic is being diverted by the TTPS onto the Northbound lanes, which are being used as a dual carriageway [Source: T&T Weather Center].
The Meteorological Office of Trinidad & Tobago has released new photos of the Uriah Butler Highway as of 10:40am on Monday 22nd October 2018.
TTPS has stated that traffic is currently flowing freely on the Uriah Butler Highway. Police are present at all points of the Highway that are still affected by flood waters, to give motorists direction. View the photos below and stay tuned for further updates.

Fine Choice has issued a statement on the malicious video that has been circulating since Saturday 20th October 2018. The video claimed to show workers washing out chicken that were subjected to flood waters, for the purpose of selling to the public - which the company has strongly denied.

The Ministry of Education has released a list of Schools that will serve as Emergency Shelters for those affected by severe flooding.

The Trinidad & Tobago Meteorological Office is advising citizens that the Adverse Weather Alert (Orange Level) has been extended to 6pm on Tuesday 23rd October 2018. This is definitely bad news for so many communities already under severe flood waters.

The Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago, Dr. Keith Rowley, has declared T&T a “National Disaster” after touring several areas severely affected by flooding this morning.

The Trinidad & Tobago Meteorological Office has just upgraded its Riverine Flood Alert to a rare Red Level. An Adverse Weather Alert (Orange Level) is also in effect.
The upgraded Riverine Flood Alert (Red Level) is in effect for an entire week - from 6pm on Friday 19th October to 12pm on Friday 26th October 2018. River levels have exceeded threshold levels and some have already over-spilled their banks. As additional rainfall is expected, river levels will remain at an elevated level over the next several days. The MET Office is advising citizens to be on the alert for rising river levels and possible over-spill. Do not take unnecessary risks. There is a very high potential for major damage to property and infrastructure and for mulitple lives to be lost. It is advised to stay indoors until the all-clear is given by Government Officials.
