A 74-year-old farmer was robbed at gunpoint in Biche on Tuesday morning (21st March 2023) by three (3) armed men, who pretended to be Police Officers. The incident took place around 11:30 AM at the farmer's estate along Pato Trace, La Salle Village, Biche.
The pensioner, who is a licensed firearm holder, was on his estate when he was confronted by the armed suspects who announced a hold-up. They forced the victim to lie on the ground. The men, armed with shotguns, claimed to be Police Officers and instructed him to place his shotgun on the ground and lie face-down. They took thirteen (13) rounds of 16-gauge cartridges while the elderly man remained on the ground for ten (10) minutes, and then they disappeared into nearby bushes. The victim reported the incident to Officers at the Biche Police Station. He said two (2) of the bandits were wearing combat boots and one wore a beret, with one in camouflage clothing and the other in black clothing. The traumatic incident took place just three (3) days after the victim's birthday. Cpl Ramkelawan and a team of Officers visited the scene. Investigations are continuing.
