Update (26/06/18): Following our highly-shared post yesterday, warning of the immediate crack-down on Vehicle Inspection Stickers, Members of Parliament also discussed and clarified the issue yesterday.
See our original post below.
The Trinidad & Tobago Police Service and the Licensing Office are once again warning drivers that they will be fined $5,000 if they are found to be without a Vehicle Inspection Sticker.
Starting from today, exercises would be “ramped up” throughout the country to target errant motorists. The previous excuse that “Inspection Bays have no Stickers” will not be accepted this time around as these Stickers are once again available at various Inspection Bays throughout the country. Read Section 27(11) of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Act (48:50) below and let us know your thoughts in the comments. (a) registered owner of a private motor vehicle or motorcycle, public service motor vehicle, rental car, goods vehicle, omnibus or trailer, who fails to produce the vehicle for inspection or drives the vehicle without obtaining an inspection sticker and certificate in accordance these regulations commits an offence and is liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of $5,000.
Private vehicles are to be inspected after five (5) years from the manufacture date, not the registration date.
Transport vehicles are to be inspected one (1) year after the date of licensing. [Source] We are a small operation.
